This weekly interactive group breaks down the 10 steps of the iRest® Yoga Nidra practice which provides an opportunity to explore the elements and deeper teachings of the protocol behind the iRest practice.
In each session these teachings are followed by a full-length practice of about 20-25 mins to embody what has been discussed.
We use the scientifically proven practice of iRest® Yoga Nidra to develop:
Develops a connection to an undamaged part of ourselves that is peaceful and free.
Tools to deal with difficult thoughts and feelings to help manage addiction, trauma, anger, stress and anxiety.
Emotional intelligence and awareness to safely deal with past hurt that drives unhealthy patterns of behaviour.
Develop a loving inner voice of kindness and compassion.
Find meaning and purpose in life.
Having tried various healing modalities, the work simplicity of this practice is to start to just feel and not let the mind to keep wanting to talk and cover up what I was feeling, which has been a lot of grief. To feel anger, hurt and pain and allow the gentle exhale and inhale of my breath and to find a peace, a kind of acceptance in these feelings and then to invite the opposite emotions in. Also at times, to then be able to witness both emotions present in me is quite something.

I've done the live groups several times and find it enjoyable, interesting and beneficial. The meditations are great, and there are recordings to have and tap into (at your leisure). For those wanting insight and self-discovery there is discussion and literature as well. I particularly like hearing the thoughts and 'slant' of others. Great group, I thoroughly enjoy it. Last and not least you are able to ask questions on anything to increase your understanding of ideas and concepts (or about the practice).

I have found the 8 week group invaluable. It has helped me to better deal with grief, low self-esteem and the challenges that life throws at me. Through Paul and his group, I have been able to gain a better understanding of myself and why I react to certain triggers, and how I can deal with them.
Felicia
I find meditation and being still very difficult, yet being a part of the group with Paul was a good way to gently settle into guided meditations.

iRest® is an evidence-based practice approved by the US army General surgeon after years of rigorous evaluation and neuroscience research. It has been tested in more than 30 scientific trials in the USA and is used in over 50 military veterans’ hospitals and military bases, as well as civilian hospitals, clinics, hospices, homeless shelters, community programmes and schools.
The US military has been using iRest® techniques as a treatment for their growing number of veterans who suffer post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD). It has successfully addressed many conditions alongside PTSD: traumatic brain injury, depression, anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain and addictions.
It combines modern psychology and various ancient spiritual practices that are non-denominational in mainstream language.

Anyone looking to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and any unhealthy patterns of behaviour they are caught up in.
It is tailored for people in addiction recovery and can be helpful for people dealing with past hurt and trauma that may drive addictions.
For people doing a 12-step programme of recovery it can help to grow a connection to a higher power and deepen their step 11 work. As well as coming our own loving parent and voice of compassion.
It does not matter if you are new to meditation, or a very experienced meditator or somewhere in-between, it is the attitude of honesty and curiosity with a willingness to explore your experience that is important.
The group and accompanying pre-recorded course can help you to develop tools to be with aspects of your life that you may not have dealt with, but please make sure you feel ready and have the capacity to explore these.
If you are unsure about attending please contact Paul Collins at Thrive Inside to talk it through to see if the group is suitable for you.
If you have psychiatric conditions, mental illness or strong emotional challenges that you feel might be too much or are not sure about, then you need to consider whether this group is the right course for you.
